PRN Medical Assistant
About The Position
El Centro Family Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center and 501(c)(3), works to provide affordable, accessible, quality health care and basic health education to the people of Northern New Mexico through clinics and cooperative programs. The organization is seeking a PRN Medical Assistant to serve community needs. PRN work is as needed, with no guarantee of hours. The Medical Assistant learns medical terminology and the names of instruments, interacts with patients, and provides direct patient care and related clinical, laboratory, technical, and support services to physicians and midlevel practitioners. The role follows El Centro Family Health policies and procedures and may require travel to outlying clinics.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of management and customer service experience in a related field.
- CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, to be obtained within three months of hire.
- Medical Assistant Certification, to be obtained within 18 months of hire.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel to outlying clinics as needed.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Fluent skills using Microsoft Office Excel and Word, Internet Explorer, and Outlook.

Responsibilities
- Learn and become familiar with medical terminology and the names of instruments.
- Interact with patients and provide direct patient care.
- Provide related clinical, laboratory, technical, and support services to physicians, midlevel practitioners, and the Assistant Manager/Lead Medical Assistant or designee.
- Follow El Centro Family Health care policies and procedures.
- Travel to outlying clinics or other ECFH medical clinics as needed.
