Medical Assistant (Outpatient) (Sycamore), Full-time, Day Shift
About The Position
Adventist Health Simi Valley is hiring a Medical Assistant to perform non-invasive, routine technical support services under the specific authorization and supervision of a licensed physician, podiatrist, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or nurse midwife. The role is based at the Sycamore outpatient location and is full-time on the day shift. The position includes preparing exam rooms, checking in patients, maintaining patient recall and continuity-of-care records, obtaining vital signs, reporting significant findings and pertinent observations to the clinic physician, performing ordered venipunctures, and conducting audiometry and vision testing. The employee may also perform other job-related duties as assigned. Required education is a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Basic Life Support certification is required; medical assistant credentials and certain testing and phlebotomy qualifications are preferred.
Requirements
- High school education, GED, or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification from an approved vendor, per Adventist Health policy.
- AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS certification.
- Associates must receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or an equivalent combination of licensure and experience.
- Successful completion of audiometry and vision training, or a CHDP certificate, within six months of hire.
- Phlebotomy certificate.
Responsibilities
- Set up exam rooms and check in patients.
- Maintain a patient recall system, including continuity-of-care logs for lab tests, referrals, and transfers.
- Obtain vital signs and report significant findings and pertinent patient observations to the clinic physician.
- Perform venipunctures as ordered.
- Perform audiometry and vision testing.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
