Medical Assistant (Outpatient) (Sycamore), Full-time, Day Shift
About The Position
Adventist Health Simi Valley is a healthcare provider in Southern California, comprising a 144-bed hospital, home care services, and other services throughout Ventura County. The Medical Assistant performs non-invasive, routine technical support services under the specific authorization and supervision of a licensed physician, podiatrist, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or nurse midwife. The role is full-time on the day shift at the Sycamore outpatient location. Adventist Health requires associates to receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply. Adventist Health participates in E-Verify.
Requirements
- High school education, GED, or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy.
- AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS certification, as required by the facility.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent combination of licensure and experience.
- Successful completion of audiometry and vision training, or a CHDP certificate, within six months of hire.
- Phlebotomy certificate.
Responsibilities
- Set up exam rooms and check in patients.
- Maintain a patient recall system, including a continuity-of-care log for lab tests, referrals, and transfers.
- Obtain vital signs.
- Report significant findings and pertinent patient observations to the clinic physician.
- Perform venipunctures as ordered.
- Perform audiometry and vision testing.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
