About The Position

The Medical Assistant completes activities accurately, with high quality, and in a timely manner while supporting the organization’s mission to provide accessible, quality urgent care and an effortless patient experience. Candidates from a variety of clinical backgrounds are welcome, including LPNs, EMTs, Paramedics, and PCTs with healthcare experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a hospital, primary care, emergency department, or urgent care setting; alternatively, meet one of the specified clinical training, certification, or licensure pathways.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association at the time of hire.
One of the specified Medical Assistant certifications at hire or within 12 months of hire: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, or NRCMA.
CPOE certification within two weeks of hire if Medical Assistant certification is not obtained at hire.

Responsibilities

Register patients and verify insurance and documentation.
Schedule appointments and process co-pays.
Prepare patients for examinations and record medical history.
Perform vital signs and preliminary patient assessments.
Conduct point-of-care testing, including flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, and HCG tests.
Assist providers with patient care and procedures.
Maintain examination rooms, supplies, and medical records.
Answer patient questions and coordinate referrals.
Perform opening and closing duties and maintain equipment quality checks.
Support a safe, organized, and patient-centered clinical environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
