About The Position

Progressive Community Health Centers is seeking a Medical Assistant to join their team in Milwaukee, WI. This is a full-time position that requires working weekends. Progressive Community Health Centers, founded in 1999, is an independent non-profit organization operating four clinic locations in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent, with completion of a Medical Assistant program, from an accredited school or training program.
• Knowledge of injection levels and procedures, for both children and adults.
• Knowledge of universal precautions and blood borne pathogens.
• Ability to document clearly, patient vital signs and chief complaint, as well as pay close attention to charting detail.
• Ability to relate well to people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to manage patient flow in a fast-paced clinic environment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours in order to meet patient care needs/demands.
• Mandatory vaccination for all employees, employed providers and volunteers.
• Must submit proof of vaccination prior to orientation.

Nice To Haves

• EPIC experience is preferred.
• Experience in community health, public health, or in a community hospital is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting and supporting staff, patients, and the community.
• Informing scheduled patients of any delays due to physician's lateness, emergencies, schedule backup, etc.
• Anticipating the need for assessment and monitoring of patients prior to and during examination, treatment, emergency, acute illness, or procedure.
• Providing a caring environment.
• Dealing empathetically with patients' needs and questions.
• Greeting, assessing, and interviewing patients.
• Obtaining past medical, surgical history, family history, social history, and complete set of vital signs.
• Reviewing current medications, allergy history, and brief interrogation of chief complaint.
• Acting as a liaison between Provider and patient.
• Preparing and assisting patients for examination/treatment by medical staff.
• Maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Obtaining vital signs
• Performing Audiogram
• Performing Phlebotomy – butterfly, venous heel stick
• Performing Specimen collection
• Giving injections/immunizations
• Performing EKG
• Performing CLIA waived point of care testing
• Performing Nebulizer treatments
• Administering medications
