About The Position
The Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) is an integral member of the Physician/Advanced Practice Provider office team and works under the direction and supervision of a licensed healthcare practitioner. The role requires safe clinical skills performed within the MA-C scope of practice. The MA-C has ongoing contact with physicians, APPs, nurses, front office staff, patients, and patients’ families or caregivers. The position is in the Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition Clinic.
Requirements
- Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) credential.
- Current BLS certification.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Organize patient flow in collaboration with front office staff.
- Interview patients.
- Obtain vital signs.
- Assist patients in preparing for examinations or treatments.
- Collect specimens, including performing venipuncture.
- Administer medications in compliance with Washington State Department of Health regulations and documented competency.
- Relay instructions and information to patients and their families or caregivers.
- Send and receive patient medical records.
- Facilitate patient referrals.
- Prepare forms for patients.
