Medical Assistant - Pediatric Respiratory Clinic
About The Position
The Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) is an integral member of the Physician/Advanced Practice Provider office team and works under the direction and supervision of a licensed healthcare practitioner. The role requires performing safe clinical skills within the MA-C scope of practice and involves ongoing contact with physicians, APPs, nurses, front office staff, patients, and patients’ families or caregivers. This position is in the Mary Bridge Children’s Respiratory Clinic in Tacoma, Washington, with a 0.6 FTE day schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; days of the week vary. Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Network serves children and families throughout the South Sound. Its teams provide pediatric hospital, clinic, and specialty care in a compassionate, family-centered environment.
Requirements
- Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) credential.
- Current BLS certification.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient flow with front office staff.
- Interview patients.
- Obtain vital signs.
- Assist patients in preparing for examinations or treatments.
- Collect specimens, including through venipuncture.
- Administer medications in compliance with Washington State Department of Health regulations and documented competency.
- Relay instructions and information to patients and their families or caregivers.
- Send and receive patient medical records.
- Facilitate patient referrals.
- Prepare forms for patients.
