About The Position

APDerm is a physician-led, patient-centered dermatology network founded in 1992, with 38 practices across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. The Medical Assistant supports clinicians and patients by preparing for visits and procedures, documenting office visits, and providing post-procedure instructions. Salary is hourly and tiered by Medical Assistant level: MA I, $20.00–$27.14; MA II, $22.00–$29.85; and MA III, $24.00–$36.00. Salary offers and tier placement depend on factors including experience, location, skills, training, and education. Certain roles may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and/or long-term incentives.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Excellent computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all necessary information and materials are available for the clinician before patient visits.
• Escort patients to the appropriate room and accurately obtain and record their history and chief complaint according to practice standards.
• Prepare patients for appointments based on diagnosis, procedures, and practice protocols, including providing gowns and setting up for procedures.
• Scribe and document office visits on a computer for the clinician.
• Assist clinicians with preparation for cosmetic procedures.
• Instruct patients on aftercare for surgical and cosmetic procedures and ensure they understand the instructions.
