About The Position

The Medical Assistant prepares patients for examinations and assists clinical providers by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical and social history, and chief complaints. The role performs clinical tasks within the scope of the employee’s certification and under physician supervision. The position is on-site at Virtua Health’s Marlton location and is full-time on the first shift, with 40 hours per week.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or the Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program.
Current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant.
BLS certification.
In Delaware, Medical Assistant certification is required within one year of hire.

Nice To Haves

0–2 years of similar job experience in a medical office is preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining and documenting vital signs and chief complaints, and preparing the patient and exam room for the provider visit.
Perform phlebotomy and obtain specimens for processing.
Administer vaccines and complete required documentation.
Perform diagnostic tests, such as EKG and pulmonary function tests, as directed and under physician supervision.
Screen and direct patient calls according to established protocols.
Contact patients about prescriptions and test results as directed and under physician supervision.
Perform and document daily regulatory testing to ensure clinical equipment is accurate and compliant.
Maintain facility par levels of clinical supplies.
Perform front-desk duties as directed, which may include patient registration, billing, and appointment scheduling.
