About The Position

Forefront Dermatology is hiring a Medical Assistant for its Gainesville Dermatology clinic. The Medical Assistant supports the dermatologist during patient visits and helps create a friendly, efficient environment for patients and staff. The role is scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Candidates should be dependable, commit to a full-time schedule, and be willing to remain in the position for at least one year. Consistent attendance, reliability, and excellent patient service are expected.

Requirements

Minimum post-high-school education in a medical support field, such as Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse.
Non-certified Medical Assistants must complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed period and maintain certification upon expiration.
Keep all state certifications, licenses, and registrations current as required for continued employment.
Willingness to travel to other clinic locations as needed.
Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems.
Organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors.
Ability to multitask, prioritize appropriately, and work well independently and as part of a team.
Dependable attendance and commitment to a full-time schedule and at least one year in the position.

Nice To Haves

1–2 years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred.

Responsibilities

Room patients and document vital information.
Scribe information for the dermatologist.
Provide post-operative wound care.
Draw blood and remove sutures.
Clean and stock examination rooms.
Schedule patient appointments.
Assist the dermatologist with procedures, including surgical photographs, biopsies (punch, DIF, and shave), excisions, electrodessication and curettage, incision and drainage, Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery, phototherapy, injections, KOH preparations, trichograms, Tzanck preparations, dermabrasion, patch testing, and blue light treatments.
