Certified Medical Assistants are important members of the Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center (RCCHC) Care Teams. Medical Assistants are responsible for delivering excellent, high-touch, primary care, and coordinating a patient centered care experience. The Medical Assistant role requires high levels of flexibility, energy, attention to detail, and problem-solving. Medical Assistants will work closely and collaboratively with their teammates to greet and room RCCHC patients. S/he will be expected to assist in assessing patient’s health conditions, including performing routine diagnostic testing during appointments. The Certified Medical Assistant must be able to maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of RCCHC personnel and patients. A Patient Access Center (PAC) in a Community Health Center is a centralized team that manages patient entry points into care. It typically handles: Scheduling appointments across all clinic sites, Patient inquiries and call management, Registration and demographic updates, Insurance verification and eligibility, Care coordination and routing patients to appropriate services. The goal of a PAC is to improve access, streamline operations, and create a consistent patient experience, while allowing clinical staff at the sites to focus more on direct patient care.
