About The Position

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a dynamic leader to join their Patient Access team as a Supervisor, supporting care delivery at Bellevue Medical Center. This role offers the opportunity to impact patient access and experience in a community-based hospital setting, providing leadership across multiple outpatient and acute care areas. The Supervisor will oversee daily operations, staffing, and workflows across various service areas, serving as a mentor and subject matter expert. Responsibilities include supporting staff development, guiding teams through escalated situations, and fostering a consistent, service-focused environment that promotes reliability and high-quality patient access. The primary location is Bellevue Medical Center in Omaha, NE, specifically based in the Emergency Department, Main Access, Infusion, and Specialty Clinic areas, with occasional travel to other Nebraska Medicine locations. This is a Full-Time, Exempt position, typically Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM or 10:00 AM-6:00 PM, with flexibility based on operational needs, and may require extended coverage or adjusted hours to support staffing across all shifts. Participation in an on-call rotation (pager support coverage) is required. Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of customer service experience required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience to include the majority of the following: serve as an operational expert for a group of employees, regularly model/mentor and train employees on technical skills, make decisions regarding daily priorities for a work group, provide guidance to and/or assist staff on non-routine or escalated issues.
  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of education/experience combined required (One year of education equals one year of experience.)
  • Ability to exhibit strong leadership, strong planning and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise creativity/innovation and be attentive to detail required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and exhibit strong judgment skills in a well-thought out and timely fashion and determine appropriate course of action in significantly complex situations required.
  • Based on department, may be required to work holiday and/or weekends.
  • Expert knowledge in computer based applications, specifically Microsoft products including Excel and Word required.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritize work and direct staff required.
  • Ability to type 45 words per minute with 95% accuracy required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six months of hire or transfer date for employees working in hospital environment required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).

  • Knowledge of Microsoft ACCESS preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve on the leadership team as a shift supervisor for the designated operation by overseeing all aspects of day-to-day Patient Access Operations.
  • Partner closely with colleagues to serve as an Access expert, regularly model/mentor and train colleagues on technical skills, make decisions regarding daily priorities for the work group, provide guidance to an/or assist staff on non-routine or escalated issues and complete performance appraisals and/or disciplinary actions.
  • Coordinate staffing and operations for registration and scheduling areas within Ambulatory Clinics, procedural areas and ACCESS services.
  • Support on and off site management of services.
  • Provide guidance for ACCESS team members, enterprise clinics, and decentralized registration areas by creating a positive work environment to maintain patient and employee satisfaction.
  • Provide operations oversight, analysis, training, troubleshooting and analysis of resource requirements.
  • Provide support to operations by assessing work flows and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Must work in production as required.
