About The Position

The Medical Assistant prepares patients for examinations and assists clinical providers by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical and social history, and chief complaints. The role performs clinical tasks within the scope of the employee’s certification and under physician supervision. The position is on-site at Virtua Health’s Cherry Hill location and is full-time, with a first-shift schedule and 40 hours per week.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program.
Current Medical Assistant certification or registration.
BLS certification required.
In Delaware, certification is required within one year of hire.

Nice To Haves

0–2 years of similar job experience in a medical office is preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining and documenting vital signs and chief complaints, and prepare exam rooms based on the chief complaint.
Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens for processing.
Administer vaccines and complete required documentation.
Perform diagnostic tests, such as EKG and pulmonary function testing, as directed and under physician supervision.
Screen and direct patient calls according to established protocols.
Contact patients about prescriptions and test results as directed and under physician supervision.
Perform and document daily regulatory testing to ensure clinical equipment is accurate and compliant.
Maintain par levels of clinical supplies for the facility.
Perform assigned front desk duties, which may include patient registration, billing, and appointment scheduling.
