About The Position

The Medical Assistant supports providers at an ambulatory health care site by facilitating patient visits and procedures, performing routine laboratory tests, processing referrals, and contributing to quality outcomes for the practice population. The role also participates in Network quality initiatives focused on best practices. The Podiatry Specialty pays $1.00 per hour more than other offices after the required additional credentials are obtained. Certification fee reimbursement is available and is processed quickly.

Requirements

• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program, or a high school diploma plus one year of Medical Assistant experience in a physician practice.
• PMAC Medical Assistant certification required within six months of hire.
• Radiology licensure required within six months of hire.
• Ability to collaborate with others in a team setting.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Positive attitude toward problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient use, including cleaning and stocking supplies.
• Room patients and help maintain an efficient flow of the provider’s caseload.
• Obtain vital signs, perform EKGs, and collect specimens as needed.
• Document care using the EPIC EMR system.
• Perform Point of Care Testing based on the patient’s chief complaint and available protocols.
• Process referrals and medication refills.
• Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff.
• Assist with patient visits and procedures, routine laboratory tests, and quality outcomes.
• Participate in Network quality initiatives regarding best practices.
