About The Position

Hartford HealthCare Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide basic clinical and clerical support for patient care within the Medical Assistant’s scope of education. The role includes continued training in all aspects of Medical Assistant work and direct patient care under a provider’s direction. The position also provides indirect patient-care support and administrative coverage, and may float to other offices based on business needs.

Requirements

Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program, or active Connecticut CNA, EMT, Paramedic, or Medic certification, or qualifying direct patient-care experience.
Certified BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association, obtained within 90 days of hire or job transfer; required credentials must be maintained throughout employment.
At least one year of direct patient-care experience in an acute or ambulatory setting may be considered in lieu of the education requirement.

Nice To Haves

Relevant experience or a Medical Assistant externship in a busy medical office.
EPIC EMR experience.
Cardiology experience.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care under a provider’s direction, including taking vital signs; completing allergy and medication reconciliation, screenings, patient histories, health maintenance, and advance directives; and supporting virtual health.
Provide indirect patient-care support, including scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, referrals, chart preparation, and prior authorizations.
Conduct point-of-care testing, including quality control and documentation.
Perform administrative duties and cover the front desk based on business needs.
Float to other offices based on business needs.
