About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides care to patients and significant others through direct and telephone contact, following established standards and practices. The role coordinates with other care-team members to support seamless care delivery, coordinate efforts, and encourage active patient participation in planning and care. The Medical Assistant also assists physicians and other providers with clinical procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 2 years of related experience in the field.

Nice To Haves

Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program and at least 1 year of recent experience as a medical assistant.
Current CPR/BLS certification.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care within established areas of practice and assist physicians with procedures.
Perform clinical duties within the scope of practice and in compliance with department standards, policies, and protocols.
Address individual and family needs proactively and communicate identified needs in a timely manner.
Direct or escort patients to exam rooms in a timely manner.
Assist physicians, mid-level healthcare professionals, and/or nurses during examinations and office diagnostic procedures or treatments.
Perform authorized procedures, such as taking vital signs, vision screening, and selected laboratory tests, as directed by a physician or nurse.
Seek guidance or validation from physicians, mid-level healthcare professionals, and/or nurses when necessary.
Prepare e-prescriptions for pharmacy processing when instructed by a physician and in accordance with policy.
Inspect, clean, prepare, and process instruments and equipment according to manufacturers’ guidelines.
Process specimens for laboratory transport, ensuring proper labeling and that appropriate orders are placed in EPIC.
