Medical Assistant - Float Pool, Outpatient Practices

About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) Float Pool role supports outpatient practices and is assigned patient-care and administrative duties in a team-based environment, helping promote a smooth flow of patients through the office. The MA performs clinical and other patient-care responsibilities under the license of a physician or advanced practice practitioner. The Float Pool provides exposure to a variety of medical settings and specialty practices, continuous learning opportunities, and opportunities to make an impact on patient care.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED is preferred.
Meet one of the following: graduate from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of completed clinical experience; complete an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and have 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting; or have 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting. Equivalent experience will be evaluated case by case.
Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification is required. MA IIs who, prior to 05/01/2025, have 10 years of MA experience and have been employed by MaineHealth as an MA in the most recent 5 years are exempt from the certification requirement.
Current BLS certification is required, or must be obtained within 30 days of the start date.
For positions located in New Hampshire, a NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license, is required.
Six months of experience as a Medical Assistant or one year as a MaineHealth Clinical Team Assistant.
