About The Position

Medical Assistants provide basic, uncomplicated patient care and assist with unit and department operations under the direct supervision of a physician, APRN, PA, or RN. Job responsibilities are delegated by the medical provider, RN, Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager, or Resource Manager supervising the Care Assistant, in accordance with the job description. This position is in Children’s Mercy’s neurology department, which provides pediatric neurology services including epilepsy care, stroke care, brain imaging, neurophysiologic testing, and EEG monitoring. The role is onsite and is not eligible for remote work. Seasonal influenza vaccination is a condition of employment; new employees must also be willing to receive specified vaccinations if found non-immune or unable to provide evidence of vaccination, subject to discussion of medical or religious exemptions.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One to two years of experience, including one year in patient- or customer-facing roles.
One of the following credentials is required upon hire: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant, or National Certified Medical Assistant.
BLS certification required upon hire.
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required upon hire.

Nice To Haves

Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
