About The Position

MainStreet Family Care is seeking an energetic, fast, and friendly Medical Assistant to support patient care at its Alexander City, Alabama clinic. The role assists the on-site provider with patient intake, assessment, treatment, and discharge across the company’s urgent care, primary care, telemedicine, and occupational medicine services. This PRN position requires scheduling flexibility and may involve travel to other clinics as needed. The position follows a rotating schedule: Week 1 is on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with Wednesday and Thursday off. Week 2 is on Wednesday and Thursday, with Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. The stated starting compensation is $15 per hour. Pre-employment background checks and drug screenings are required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
Flexibility with scheduling for the rotating PRN schedule.
Pre-employment background check and drug screening are required.

Nice To Haves

Prior medical assisting experience or education is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

Assist providers in caring for patients to support optimal delivery of medical care.
Triage patients promptly according to clinic procedures.
Record vital signs, weight, and updates to patients’ medical histories before visits.
Perform lab tests according to clinical guidelines and provider instructions.
Manage digital patient records and support the transition from paper records to electronic systems.
Prepare examination rooms for appointments, ensuring they are clean and ready.
Administer prescribed medications under provider supervision.
Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures.
Position patients for x-rays according to provider directions.
Help monitor and manage medical inventory as needed.
