Part-Time, Temporary Medical Assistants
About The Position
The Endicott College Wellness Center is establishing a pool of qualified, temporary, part-time Medical Assistants to support its healthcare team on an as-needed basis. Assistants cover planned vacations, sick leave, and peak-volume periods for full-time staff during the academic year, August 15 through May 30. Advance notice of scheduled shifts will be provided whenever possible. Medical Assistants provide clinical and administrative support to nurse practitioners, including student patient care, taking vital signs, administering immunizations, and maintaining medical records. The position is on-site and offers flexible work opportunities while providing compassionate care to Endicott College students. The position reports directly to the Director of the Wellness Center, receives functional supervision from Nurse Practitioner staff, and works under general supervision. There are no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential is often required.
- Customer service skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to triage and manage multiple issues and concerns.
Nice To Haves
- Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program.
- Previous experience in a clinic or college health setting, particularly working with adolescents and young adults.
- Prior office experience in a higher education setting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare exam rooms, take vital signs such as blood pressure and weight, assist with physical exams, and administer vaccines.
- Perform point-of-care testing, collect blood and urine specimens, and assist with specialized procedures such as splinting and dressing changes.
- Schedule appointments, maintain confidential electronic medical records, and manage inventory.
- Greet students, document medical histories, and provide care instructions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
