Medical Assistant - Dermatology
About The Position
The Medical Assistant will join Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital’s Dermatology team, which provides dermatologic and aesthetic services, including diagnostic and treatment options for skin and connective tissue conditions. The role collaborates with fellow staff to create a welcoming, comfortable environment for patients, families, and visitors. It supports patient care by gathering information, monitoring patients, assisting with treatments, and completing administrative tasks. The position offers opportunities to enhance skills, gain hands-on experience, and explore advanced positions at Cleveland Clinic. The caregiver works Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and follows standard precautions, using personal protective equipment as required.
Requirements
- Graduate from an approved Medical Assisting program.
- Military training as a hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W), or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered.
- Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within the new-hire period.
- Complete a clinical externship or have extensive clinical experience.
- Demonstrate current clinical proficiency.
Nice To Haves
- Medical Assisting certification (CMA, NCMA, or CCMA).
- Successful completion of a Cleveland Clinic externship.
Responsibilities
- Assist with screenings and treatments by gathering and updating health-maintenance information, identifying medication changes, updating allergy information, collecting specimens, performing tests, and documenting patient care.
- Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
- Administer specific medications under the direction of the provider.
- Maintain equipment, medical supplies, and examination areas.
- Perform administrative and clerical duties, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
