Medical Assistant (Part-Time)
About The Position
Spero Health is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to join its team in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Medical Assistant supports the organization’s mission of “Saving Lives, Instilling Hope and Restoring Relationships” by working as part of an integrated care team serving patients receiving counseling, case management, and medically assisted treatment. The role supports whole-person care and patient outcomes. The part-time schedule is Monday 10:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m., Tuesday 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., and Thursday 10:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m. Spero Health encourages teammates to pursue growth opportunities within the organization.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- One to three years of experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar role.
- Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
Nice To Haves
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program.
- Phlebotomy and laboratory experience.
- Experience with injections.
Responsibilities
- Schedule patient appointments.
- Answer incoming calls and regularly check voice messages.
- Check patients in and out and monitor patient flow.
- Perform urine drug screens, take vital signs, and assist with patient evaluations.
- Call in patient medication as directed by a physician.
- Enter accurate patient information into the electronic health record.
- Send prior authorizations to insurance companies.
- Perform the daily financial summary and balance payments received.
- Collect cash and verify benefits.
- Review the Prescription Monitoring Database.
- Provide education and resource information regarding medication.
