About The Position

SIMEDHealth is hiring a Medical Assistant to support patient care and clinical operations at its Gainesville clinics. The role involves providing compassionate, professional service and helping ensure an efficient patient experience. On-site work is required because the position includes direct patient care and use of on-site medical equipment; remote work is not available. The listed schedule is fixed as 8 a.m.–12 p.m. or 1 p.m.–5 p.m. daily.

Requirements

• Current BLS/CPR certification is required.

Nice To Haves

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program or national certification.
• One to two years of experience using electronic health records.
• At least one year of experience in a private medical office or hospital setting.
• Bilingual abilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and complete patient information is available in electronic medical records.
• Welcome patients to exam rooms and document vital signs in the EHR.
• Coordinate medication refill requests between patients and providers.
• Administer prescribed medications, including injections and oral or topical medications, according to training and qualifications.
• Assist with and perform procedures such as EKGs, spirometry, dressings, and wound care, based on expertise and clinic needs.
• Triage patient phone calls and respond to medical inquiries.
• Help patients navigate referrals and authorizations for procedures and surgeries.
