About The Position

The Medical Assistant - Float supports multiple healthcare facilities or departments by providing flexible clinical and administrative assistance. The role works across different medical settings to support patient care and operational efficiency, including preparing patients, collecting vital signs, assisting providers during examinations, and managing medical records. By adapting to changing locations or departments, the Medical Assistant helps address staffing needs, maintain continuity of care, and support healthcare teams.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• At least two years of experience in a clinical medical assistant role.
• Clinical skills for patient assessments, assisting with procedures, and accurate documentation.
• Strong communication, organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in multiple clinical settings or as a float medical assistant.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic.
• Additional certifications such as phlebotomy or EKG technician.
• Experience with patient education and health promotion activities.

Responsibilities

• Take patient histories, measure vital signs, and prepare patients for examinations.
• Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and procedures by handling instruments and supplies.
• Schedule appointments, update patient records, and manage correspondence.
• Adapt to different clinical environments and workflows while maintaining consistent quality of care.
• Follow healthcare regulations, infection control protocols, and patient confidentiality standards.
• Communicate with patients, providers, and staff to facilitate operations across multiple locations.
• Manage medical supply and equipment inventory and restock as necessary.
