About The Position

The Float Medical Assistant works across ambulatory primary care practices where staffing needs have been identified. The role provides clinical and clerical support to medical providers in collaboration with nursing and medical support staff in a medical office setting. The position is per diem, scheduled Monday through Friday during daytime hours, and includes a $1.50 hourly float incentive.

Requirements

• Valid New York State driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree.
• Experience in pre-hospital care activities or acute/critical care.
• Medical Assistant certification.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Support patient care through pre-visit planning, reviewing reports for care gaps, scheduling follow-ups, and completing health maintenance and registry work.
• Obtain and document vital signs, patient history, screenings, and medication lists; perform point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, and EKGs with accurate documentation.
• Assist providers with procedures, specimen collection, patient education, order entry, medication refills, and prior authorization requests.
• Maintain exam rooms and clinical equipment by restocking supplies, checking calibration, preparing instruments for sterilization, and ensuring a clean, safe environment.
• Collaborate with providers and nursing staff while maintaining adult and pediatric primary care competencies to ensure high-quality patient care.
