Medical Assistant (Float)
About The Position
The Medical Assistant Float supports Yale New Haven Health Urgent Care’s Newtown and Southbury centers. The role works alongside clinical teams and provides exposure to varied patient populations and care environments. Team members may be cross-trained to support both Medical Assistant and Medical Receptionist responsibilities, helping teams deliver timely, compassionate, high-quality care. The position offers variety, professional growth, and opportunities to build clinical skills while serving patients across the urgent care network. The Newtown and Southbury teams emphasize patient-focused care, collaboration, flexibility, and mutual support. This role suits individuals who enjoy working with different teams and clinical environments. Medical Assistant training and EHR/EMR experience are preferred; CPR certification is required or candidates must be willing to obtain it. Compensation is $20–$26 per hour, based on experience.
Requirements

Responsibilities
- Support providers with patient care and treatments.
- Perform vital signs, EKGs, testing, and specimen collection.
- Assist with patient intake, documentation, and follow-up care.
- Provide front-office support as needed.
- Help maintain a safe, organized clinical environment.
- Deliver customer service to patients and families.
- Adapt to different teams and clinical environments.
