About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care in a primary care setting, practicing within the State of Ohio scope of practice and under the direction of a provider or registered nurse and practice manager. The role follows Mount Carmel Health System, Mount Carmel Medical Group, and department-specific policies and procedures. The position is located at 4310 Clime Rd B, Columbus, Ohio. Office hours are Monday through Wednesday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Thursday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED and 1–2 years of medical experience, or a bachelor’s or associate degree in a science or health field.
Current BLS/CPR certification, which must be maintained.
In lieu of the stated education, 2–3 years of previous medical office experience is required.

Nice To Haves

Completion of a medical assistant program.
Medical Assistant certification or registration.
Graduation from EMT, EMT-P, or Military Medical Corpsman training.
Nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or registration (MCMG only).
One to two years of medical assisting experience.

Responsibilities

Welcome and room patients, obtaining height, weight, and vital signs.
Review patients’ medical histories and chief complaints, and gather other information.
Perform blood draws, injections, and EKGs.
Answer in-basket messages and handle patient follow-up calls and messages.
Use EPIC.
