About The Position

Assists in examination and treatment of patients.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited institution.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Proficiency in taking vital signs, administering injections, and performing phlebotomy.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
  • English proficient required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree - preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Triage patient phone calls, portal messages, and walk-in concerns according to established clinical protocols.
  • Obtain and document patient history, chief complaints, allergies, medications, and vital signs.
  • Recognize urgent or emergent symptoms and promptly notify the provider or direct patients to the appropriate level of care.
  • Schedule same-day or follow-up appointments based on clinical need.
  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Administer medications, injections, immunizations, and perform point-of-care testing as permitted by state regulations and organizational policy.
  • Prepare exam rooms and maintain adequate medical supplies and equipment.
  • Process prescription refill requests according to provider protocols.
  • Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up care.
  • Educate patients on medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and chronic disease management.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection prevention standards, and organizational policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support patient-centered care.
  • Other duties as assigned.
