The Triage Medical Assistant, under the direction of a provider, works under the general supervision of the Triage Nurse Manager as part of the medical team. The Triage Medical Assistant is responsible for abiding by the policies and procedures of the OneWorld Community Health Centers while performing the clinical and clerical duties necessary to meet the goal of providing primary healthcare. They work primarily from home, but report to work in the clinic on a rotating basis. Facilitates communication between the patient and the clinic. Contacts and confirms patient appointments before the scheduled appointment. Schedules appointments as needed. Collects patient symptoms over the phone, documents chief complaint, and consults with nurse/provider as appropriate. Relays patient requests and questions to the provider. Per provider instructions and clinic policies, performs medication refills, gives directives to patients, and gives diagnostic results to patients. Works with interdisciplinary teams to determine appropriate follow-up for triaged patients. Assists patients with forms and paperwork. Obtains and enters medical records. Records charges in the electronic health record as needed.
