About The Position

This position at Nuvance Health Med Practice CT Northwell is a Full Time Medical Assistant role located at the Danbury Digestive Health Institute. The hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, with shifts that may vary. The role provides clinical and clerical support to ensure smooth daily operations within the assigned medical practice, preparing patients and examination areas for appointments. A $2,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Requirements

  • 1 year MA experience OR certification in MA or EMT or 3 full years relevant healthcare experience including rooming, vitals, blood and patient care.
  • Data entry required.
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • Basic medical knowledge and terminology.
  • Skilled in obtaining accurate patient vital signs.
  • Minimum Experience: one year.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR certification preferred.
  • Bi-lingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and brings patients from the waiting room to the clinical area, performing intake activities and documenting vital signs, current medications, allergies, PCP, referring provider, and preferred pharmacy in the EMR.
  • Transcribes and updates patient information in the patient record, including demographic, medication history, social, and medical history from intake forms.
  • Provides clerical and secretarial support, prepares and organizes patient charts, and completes paperwork such as disability forms and scanning of patient information.
  • Performs and stays current with EMR Orders Reconciliation as assigned.
  • Ensures the examination area is clean after each patient use and stocked, and performs environmental rounds.
  • Assures the patient is properly prepared for the scheduled visit to maintain timely patient flow, including assisting with gowns and having necessary paperwork and materials available.
  • Conducts in-office testing as directed by the provider, coordinates testing and outside ancillary services, and reviews instructions for upcoming procedures and tests.
  • Collects, prepares, and processes specimens as directed by the provider, ensuring results are logged and reconciled in the patient's record.
  • Maintains inventory and ensures proper upkeep, cleaning, and testing of medical equipment and supplies, filling out appropriate logs.
  • Coaches and educates colleagues on office procedures and techniques.
  • Performs pathology and other audits as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Demonstrates and maintains practice-based competencies for in-office surgical procedures, including setup, patient prepping with sterile technique, patient recovery, and room turnover under RN direction.
  • Interacts with patients and colleagues in accordance with Western Connecticut Medical Group service excellence standards.
  • Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

  • Performs other duties as required.
