About The Position

The Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant (MA/PSA) in Specialty Suites is a per diem position responsible for providing administrative and basic clinical support to a physician practice. This role involves patient registration, scheduling, co-payment collection, insurance verification, and escorting patients to exam rooms. The MA/PSA will also document patient information, take vital signs, and may perform phlebotomy and injections. The position is Monday-Friday with rotating shifts and may require travel to other sites.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
One year of work experience required
CPR certification through the American Heart Association required

Nice To Haves

Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred, but not required.
Medical Assistant Certification (AMT or AAMA) is preferred, but not required.
Previous experience working in a medical office (or related field) is preferred.
On the job training is provided for those who do not have previous medical assistant training or experience.

Responsibilities

Answer phones
Schedule appointments
Collect co-payments
Complete patient registration
Provide other administrative support to the physician practice
Check in and check out patients
Verify insurances
Greet patients and escort them to exam room
Document vital signs, allergies, medications and reason for office visit
Provide front office support as needed
Perform basic vitals like BP, height and weight
Phlebotomy and injections may be required
