About The Position

NextCare Urgent Care is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, customer-friendly Medical Assistant who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team environment. The position supports patient care in the back office and may also support front-office reception, depending on clinic staffing and business needs. The Medical Assistant helps maintain efficient clinic operations and patient flow while treating patients with respect and dignity. Under the direct supervision of a provider and within the Medical Assistant scope of practice, the role assists with examinations, procedures, and direct patient care; administers medications according to provider direction and policy; performs blood draws and may collect urine specimens, including for employer drug screens; and may perform splinting, casting, physicals, ear lavage, wound care, and oxygen administration. The position also requires prompt reporting of unusual patient occurrences and safety concerns, adherence to laboratory and clinical accreditation policies, and proficiency with EMR/EHR systems. Additional laboratory duties may include moderate-complexity testing in authorized disciplines; instrument calibration and quality-control documentation; maintaining inspection-ready logs; completing competency assessments and proficiency testing; processing specimens and entering results in the laboratory information system; and promptly notifying the attending Texas healthcare provider of critical results. When assigned to front-office reception, the Medical Assistant keeps patients and families informed about wait times, monitors patient flow, and processes discharges, including preparing charges, collecting payments, obtaining signatures, and issuing receipts. Other duties may be assigned under company policy.
