About The Position

The Pediatric Associates Family of Companies is seeking an incredible Medical Assistant LEAD with a passion for pediatric care. This position requires a candidate who is bilingual in Spanish/English and fluent in both languages. The Medical Assistant Lead will assist the Practice Manager in overseeing daily clinical operations for small to medium-sized offices. They will ensure Medical Assistants provide quality, team-based patient care under the direct supervision of clinicians, supporting both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. The role also supports clinicians and care management teams in the maintenance of chronic disease management, examination, and treatment of the pediatric patient population.

Requirements

Bilingual in Spanish/English - must be fluent in both.
Minimum 3 years of Medical Assistant experience in a healthcare setting.
Minimum High School diploma required.
Medical foreign doctors must have a Bachelor of Science degree in General Medicine from a regionally accredited university or equivalent.
MA Diploma/Certification required or a minimum of 3 years of MA experience will be commensurate with Diploma/Certification requirement.
Active BLS certification required.
Ability to lead and influence change with a team.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology, and immunization.
Knowledge of medical safety practices and standards.
Ability to plan, prioritize and organize.
Ability to communicate clearly both written and verbally.
Critical thinking includes emergencies.
Proficiency in electronic health recordkeeping systems.

Nice To Haves

2 years as a PA Medical Assistant preferred.
MA Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Assisting the Practice Manager in overseeing daily clinical operations for small to medium-sized offices.
Ensuring Medical Assistants perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of clinicians for both clinical and administrative functions.
Supporting clinicians and care management teams in the maintenance of chronic disease management, examination, and treatment of the pediatric patient population.
Assisting with the training, development, and competency evaluation of Medical Assistant staff.
Monitoring patient visit time and experience.
Ensuring office staff compliance with the organization’s infection prevention program, medication management, and vaccine cold chain handling and storage.
Ensuring appropriate stock levels of clinical supplies.
Maintaining high-quality patient experience, welcoming patients, and ensuring a safe patient environment.
Ensuring office and exam room cleanliness and appropriate supplies and equipment for patient care in adherence to infection control policy and procedures.
Performing and documenting the patient’s intake vitals.
Interviewing the patient based on age appropriateness and/or specialty needs with accurate documentation and updating medical records.
Obtaining necessary medical records, consultation notes, hospital inpatient and/or ED discharge records, diagnostic and laboratory results for clinician review and treatment follow-up.
Preparing the patient for clinician examination and ensuring clinician orders are performed and accurately documented.
Performing and assisting clinicians in necessary age-appropriate vision, hearing screenings, electrocardiograms, suture removal, ear lavages, urine cauterization, ear-piercing, wound care, specialty procedures, and emergency response with proper clinician supervision.
Performing and documenting vaccine and medication reconciliation with patient and state registries.
Providing written vaccine information statements and education to patients/parents prior to vaccine and medication administration.
Ensuring and adhering to vaccine cold chain management with proper handling, storage, preparation, and administration, including reporting vaccine excursion.
Performing proper patient identifiers, buddy process validation, and performing proper vaccine and medication administration.
Completing patient follow-up and tasks assigned to meet patient needs such as answering phones, handling correspondence, providing the clinician with necessary information for prescription refill requests, obtaining medication preauthorization, assisting with patient referrals and patient form completion, arranging home, hospital care, procedures, and follow-up appointments.
Proficient in lab services, including phlebotomy, lab sample collection, quality control, proper lab processing with documentation and reporting to clinician.
Assisting with leading and supervising Medical Assistants.
Assisting with performance evaluations.
