Prepares and maintains exam rooms, prepares charts, obtains reports and records; assists with patient flow and ensures the overall smooth running of the clinical office. This role involves direct patient interaction in a clinic setting, completing clinical tasks such as obtaining vital signs, conducting EKGs, performing phlebotomy, and verifying medications. The position also includes preparing for office hours, assisting with examinations and procedures, managing non-narcotic medication renewals, and potentially administering medications and vaccines under physician or nurse practitioner orders. Responsibilities extend to directing patient flow, completing requisitions, routing communications, assisting with care coordination (e.g., calling patients with test results, scheduling appointments and procedures), and maintaining accurate documentation. The role also requires monitoring supply inventory, cleaning and sterilizing instruments, maintaining HIPAA compliance, participating in continuing education, and adhering to OSHA and other regulatory standards. Quality improvement activities are also part of the role.
