Medical Assistants perform a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to help provide care to patients, support providers, and keep office operations running smoothly. This role involves managing patient registration and scheduling, maintaining inventory of medical and office supplies, processing supply orders, and adhering to Quality Assurance/Quality Control standards. The Medical Assistant will also be responsible for completing lab requests, referral and health forms, and maintaining logs as mandated by regulatory guidelines. Key clinical duties include administering injections, EKGs, spirometry, performing phlebotomy, and rendering therapeutic treatments as instructed by the physician. Additionally, the role requires understanding patient eligibility for programs like Medicaid EVS, identifying patient needs for referrals and preauthorization, and handling office calls and patient greetings professionally. Accurate data input into the electronic health record, accessing patient information only as needed, and obtaining/documenting patient vital signs are also essential. The Medical Assistant will interview, triage, and prepare patients, assist in medical examinations, and provide general assistance to the provider and staff, demonstrating I.C.A.R.E. behaviors to improve the patient experience. Other projects and duties as assigned.
