About The Position
ChristianaCare’s Minimal Invasive Gyn Surgical Department in Map II, Newark, Delaware, is seeking a professional, dependable, detail-oriented Medical Assistant I with strong communication, integrity, and technical and clinical skills. The Center for Advanced Gynecology & Minimally Invasive Surgery provides specialized care for conditions including endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, abnormal bleeding, and chronic pelvic pain. Its surgeons use minimally invasive techniques, and the center offers individualized treatment plans and same-day surgical options. The Medical Assistant I supports physicians in virtual and on-site patient care. The role performs clinical and clerical duties to help ensure quality care, including preparing patients for visits, assisting with examinations, maintaining exam rooms and equipment, and managing patient communications and scheduling.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED.
- Graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program, or hold current Medical Assistant Certification from a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Responsibilities
- Greet and support patients virtually and in person.
- Prepare patients for visits.
- Perform basic clinical tasks, including testing, injections, and EKGs.
- Assist with examinations.
- Maintain examination rooms and equipment.
- Update the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Manage patient communications, referrals, authorizations, and scheduling.
- Handle clerical duties.
- Troubleshoot video visits and support patient portal access.
