Medical Assistant Certified - Primary Assisted Health
About The Position
The Certified Medical Assistant supports patient care by performing related services, including accurate patient registration data entry and insurance verification. The role requires good judgment, effective communication with patients, families, licensed personnel, insurance companies, and third-party payers, and a professional, caring manner. The Medical Assistant assists physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in providing medical care and helps with patient accounts, appointment scheduling, phone calls, provider communications, and patient benefit information.
Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification is required.
- BLS certification is required.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One year of medical office experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Meet expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in providing medical care.
- Enter charges accurately on patient accounts, register patients, and update patient accounts.
- Verify insurance and record statistics.
- Assist with scheduling patient appointments and answering phones.
- Keep providers informed of changes.
- Inform patients of their benefits.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
