Medical Assistant Certified - Primary Pediatric
About The Position
The Certified Medical Assistant supports patient care by performing a variety of services and related activities, including accurate patient registration and insurance verification. The role requires sound judgment and effective communication with patients, families, licensed personnel, insurance companies, and third-party payers, while maintaining a professional and caring manner. The Medical Assistant assists physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in providing medical care; manages patient account data and charges; supports appointment scheduling and phone calls; keeps providers informed of changes; and informs patients about their benefits. The position also performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification is required.
- BLS certification is required.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One year of medical office experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Meet expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in providing medical care.
- Accurately enter charges on patient accounts, register patients, and update patient accounts.
- Verify insurance and record statistics.
- Assist with scheduling patient appointments and answering phones.
- Keep providers informed of changes.
- Inform patients of their benefits.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
