About The Position

The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing delegated nursing functions under the direction of the department leader and clinical nurses. This position is responsible for assisting with direct patient care and clerical duties that are an essential function in the coordination of optimal patient care, including, but not limited to scheduling patients, patient hygiene/toileting, mobility assistance, interdepartmental transportation, vital signs, charting, ordering supplies, cleaning and stocking patient areas, chart audits and interaction with all areas of the department.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., certificate of high school equivalency).
Successful completion of a medical assisting program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential from American Medical Technologists (AMT).

Nice To Haves

Successful completion of a Medical Assistant externship.
Two (2) or more years of job-related experience.
One (1) or more years of medical assisting experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification recognized by the American Heart Association (AHA).
