About The Position
The Certified Medical Assistant works at Mercy Council Bluffs Psych Associates Clinic, delivering compassionate, high-quality, individualized patient care and supporting patient well-being and recovery. The role involves making assessments and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support optimal patient outcomes. The successful candidate brings strong assessment and critical-thinking skills and a patient-first approach. The position offers a $4,800 sign-on bonus and $8,000 in education assistance (loan forgiveness) to new hires who meet eligibility requirements.
Requirements
- Graduate of a medical assisting program accredited by ABHES or CAAHEP.
- Current, valid, nationally recognized medical assistant certification, registration, or recognition, such as AAMA/CMA, RMA, or NCMA.
- Successfully completed a Medication Aide 40-hour course or hold current, valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Responsibilities
- Perform general patient care according to established clinic workflows.
- Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider by obtaining and recording vital signs, reviewing drug allergies and current medications, completing applicable screening questionnaires, and documenting reasons for visits.
- Collect and prepare ordered specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Prepare and provide ordered medications and/or vaccines to patients.
- Perform other duties within the scope of the role as assigned.
