About The Position

The Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program at Seattle Children's combines on-the-job training with online coursework and preparation for the national certification exam. This program is an investment in employees preparing for a Medical Assistant position, with an expected commitment of approximately 24 months. During this time, apprentices will complete 2000 hours of paid on-the-job training, 434 hours of online coursework and clinical labs, and prepare for the national certification exam. Upon passing the exam, apprentices are expected to continue employment at Seattle Children's for twelve months as a Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) at a minimum of 0.6 FTE. The program is a benefit valued at $4850.00.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in pediatric specialty care or urgent care environment.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and perform individualized patient procedures, treatments, and tests under the supervision of an Apprenticeship Coach as required by state apprenticeship program standards.
  • Perform associated clerical tasks including chart preparation, stocking clinic supplies, and answering telephones.
  • Provide assistance with medical clinic operations and monitoring of clinic flow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and maintain progress in all aspects of the apprenticeship program as required by state apprenticeship standards.
