About The Position

The Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program is an entry-level, 40-hour-per-week work-and-learn role that combines classroom instruction, clinical skills labs, entry-level Medical Assistant work, and supervised clinical training in a fast-paced, community-based ambulatory care practice. Apprentices develop the skills, experience, and confidence needed to begin a career in patient care while supporting clinical and non-clinical services under the direction of healthcare providers. Responsibilities increase gradually as the apprentice builds skills through coursework and clinical training. The role includes direct patient interaction and collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to support patient comfort and efficient care. Apprentices are matched to a practice location in the greater Boston area based on clinical needs, program requirements, and site availability. The program lasts 22 weeks; upon successful completion, the goal is for apprentices to transition into a Medical Assistant role within the Mass General Brigham System.
