Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience in a medical assistant or receptionist role within a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic office software.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and register patients upon arrival, verifying personal and insurance information accurately.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Answer incoming calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical personnel.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and explaining procedures.
  • Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and minor procedures as required.
  • Maintain and update patient medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Process billing information and assist with insurance claims and authorizations.
  • Manage office supplies and ensure the reception area is organized and welcoming.
  • Coordinate communication between patients, medical staff, and external healthcare providers.
  • Perform other administrative duties such as filing, faxing, and data entry to support clinic operations.
