The Medical Assistant / Receptionist plays a critical dual role in healthcare settings by providing both clinical support and front-desk administrative services. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting combining clinical and receptionist duties.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive patient information confidentially.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent clinical training.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with insurance billing processes and healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.
  • Bilingual abilities to assist a diverse patient population.
  • CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and register patients upon arrival, verifying and updating personal and insurance information accurately.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems and manage patient flow to minimize wait times.
  • Assist healthcare providers by preparing examination rooms, taking vital signs, and documenting patient histories and clinical information.
  • Answer incoming calls, respond to patient inquiries, and coordinate communication between patients and medical staff.
  • Maintain and organize patient records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Collect and process payments, handle billing inquiries, and manage administrative paperwork related to patient visits.
  • Support inventory management by ordering and restocking medical supplies and office materials as needed.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients and staff.
