Medicaid Outreach Specialist
About The Position
Easterseals MORC is hiring a Medicaid Outreach Specialist to support Medicaid enrollment, renewal, and continuity of coverage. The Specialist proactively engages individuals, families, guardians, caregivers, and residential providers to reduce procedural disenrollment, improve renewal completion, and help people maintain access to medically necessary services. The role serves as a liaison among people receiving services, their support networks, Medicaid Eligibility Specialists, and program staff. Using phone calls, text messages, email, letters, and other approved methods, the Specialist explains renewal requirements, identifies barriers, and connects people with eligibility assistance before coverage is interrupted. The role also supports outreach for reinstatement and re-enrollment after coverage is lost.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree in Human Services, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
- At least one year of experience in customer service, healthcare, human services, or a related field preferred.
Responsibilities
- Conduct proactive outreach to individuals approaching Medicaid renewal deadlines, including contacting guardians, caregivers, family members, and residential providers about requirements and deadlines.
- Help individuals understand Medicaid renewal notices and identify required actions.
- Refer individuals who need application or renewal assistance to Medicaid Eligibility Specialists.
- Track assigned individuals with upcoming renewal deadlines and monitor outreach status.
- Collaborate with care managers, case managers, clinicians, residential providers, and eligibility staff to prevent coverage gaps.
- Support efforts to reconnect with individuals who have lost Medicaid coverage.
- Assist with outreach related to reinstatement and re-enrollment activities.
