About The Position

The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) is seeking an experienced leader to serve as a Medicaid Assistant Regional Administrator within the Bureau of Health Services Financing. This role involves leading regional Medicaid operations, supporting a team responsible for over 30 Medicaid programs, and ensuring accurate and efficient service delivery. The position focuses on mentoring and developing staff, coordinating management priorities, and driving effective operations to support the health and well-being of Louisiana communities.

Requirements

  • Two years of the required experience must have been at the supervisory level or above.
  • Eight years of social services experience; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus five years of social services experience; OR A bachelor's degree plus five years of social services experience; OR An advanced degree plus four years of social services experience.
  • Experience Substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direct oversight of regional eligibility operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent processing of applications and renewals.
  • Develop and execute short and long-term operational plans, establish priorities, and adjust staffing and workloads to respond to changing program needs.
  • Supervise and develop Medicaid Area Managers and support their leadership of supervisory and eligibility staff, including setting performance expectations, providing feedback, and addressing development needs.
  • Promote a strong team environment by building trust, encouraging collaboration, establishing clear goals, and holding staff accountable for results.
  • Monitor quality assurance, performance metrics, error trends, and workload data to identify opportunities for improvement and develop corrective action strategies.
  • Partner with Medicaid Area Managers, Medicaid Analyst Supervisors, and state leadership to resolve operational challenges, improve processes, and implement effective solutions across the region.
  • Support regional budget, facilities, technology, safety, emergency response, and resource management to maintain effective day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain expertise in Medicaid programs, policies, procedures, and systems, while supporting staff training, professional development, and continued operational readiness.
  • Analyze operational data and prepare reports and recommendations to support informed decision-making and advance the mission of Eligibility Field Operations.
