About The Position

WDBJ7, the #1 TV station in the market, is searching for a motivated Senior Media Executive to join our team in Roanoke, VA. The Senior Media Executive is responsible for driving revenue growth by selling integrated media solutions across linear, streaming/CTV, and digital platforms. This role manages a full sales cycle from prospecting new business and needs analysis through proposal, close, and post-campaign optimization while building long-term client and agency relationships.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in media sales and digital advertising (agency, publisher, broadcast, or ad tech) is preferred.
  • Proven ability to meet/exceed revenue goals with strong prospecting and closing skills.
  • Working knowledge of digital ad products and metrics (e.g., impressions, CPM/CPC, CTR, conversion, viewability).
  • Experience selling one or more of: CTV/OTT, digital video, programmatic, paid social, display, and sponsorships.
  • Strong presentation and consultative selling skills; able to translate business goals into media strategy.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with the sales team and cross-functional departments (marketing/creative, digital ops, traffic, finance, research) to develop proposals, executive campaigns accurately, and deliver client results.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools (Matrix or similar) and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and be insurable.

Nice To Haves

  • Existing local/regional advertiser and/or agency relationships.
  • Familiarity with audience measurement and analytics (Nielsen, ComScore, GA4, ad platform reporting).
  • Experience with Wide Orbit Traffic and WOMS.
  • Experience building multi-platform packages and custom sponsorships.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect, pitch, and close new business across media + digital advertising solutions.
  • Grow existing accounts through strategic planning, upsell/cross-sell, and quarterly business reviews.
  • Build integrated proposals (e.g., broadcast + OTT/CTV + display/video + social + sponsorships) aligned to client KPIs.
  • Partner with internal teams (traffic, digital ops, marketing/creative, research) to launch and optimize campaigns.
  • Track pipeline activity, forecasting, and reporting in CRM; maintain accurate documentation and pacing.
  • Present campaign performance insights and recommendations; use data to improve outcomes and renewals.
  • Stay current on market/competitive trends and educate clients on new products and best practices.
  • Develop and cultivate new direct business by identifying, prospecting, and converting new advertiser relationships through outbound outreach, networking, referrals, and community/industry involvement.
  • Build and maintain an active pipeline of direct local/regional SMB and mid-market accounts, scheduling ongoing discovery meetings and presentations to drive consistent new revenue.
