About The Position

Illinois Medi-Car has immediate openings for full-time drivers to transport wheelchair-bound individuals to healthcare facilities, hospitals, testing laboratories, and other destinations. Medi-Car Drivers provide appropriate patient care as stipulated in their training and ensure passengers are transported safely and efficiently. The role also involves completing billing documentation and maintaining the vehicle in sanitary condition and in working order. Superior Ambulance Service began in 1959 and is the largest independent, locally owned and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest. It employs more than 4,000 licensed EMTs, Paramedics, and Nurses, and operates a fleet of more than 800 ambulances throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The company also provides critical care, helicopter, and fixed-wing emergency medical transportation.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Successfully pass the Company's required lifting test and map test, and successfully complete the interview process.
Ability to communicate and write functionally in English.
Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Ability to safely operate a vehicle in varied conditions, including daytime, nighttime, and inclement weather.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate the skills required of a Medi-Car Driver, including moving a wheelchair up and down stairs and in and out of the Medi-Car.
Provide appropriate patient care as stipulated in Medi-Car Driver training.
Transport passengers safely and efficiently, including reading maps and accurately identifying street names, house numbers, and business addresses.
Complete appropriate documentation for billing information.
Keep the vehicle sanitary, monitor fluid levels and gauges, and immediately report mechanical problems.
