Medi-Car Driver
About The Position
Illinois Medi-Car is hiring full-time drivers to transport wheelchair-bound individuals to healthcare facilities, hospitals, testing laboratories, and other destinations. Drivers provide care according to their training, ensure safe and efficient transportation, document billing information, and maintain the vehicle in sanitary and operational condition. The role requires moving wheelchairs up and down stairs and in and out of the vehicle, as well as navigating to destinations using maps and address information. The company’s stated pay range is $17.00–$21.00 per hour, with rates based on years of experience and full-time scheduled templates.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successfully pass the Company's required lifting test and map test, and successfully complete the interview process.
- Functional communication and writing skills in English.
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to safely operate a vehicle in daytime, nighttime, and inclement weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate the skills required of a Medi-Car Driver, including moving a wheelchair up and down stairs and in and out of the vehicle.
- Provide appropriate patient care in accordance with Medi-Car Driver training.
- Transport passengers safely and efficiently, using map-reading and address-identification skills to locate destinations.
- Complete appropriate documentation for billing information.
- Keep the vehicle sanitary, monitor fluid levels and gauges, and promptly report mechanical problems.
