The RN Clinician is an experienced healthcare professional with a strong understanding of patient care for a specific population. Using clinical knowledge, research, and experience, the RN adapts to changing situations and personalizes care based on the AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care. The RN serves as a resource for colleagues and advocates for patients and families. The role delivers safe, effective nursing care; assesses patients; develops and adjusts care plans with patient and family input; documents care; identifies learning needs; and individualizes care in recognition of cultural differences. It also involves collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, appropriate delegation, developing leadership and charge nurse responsibilities when assigned, and helping orient staff and students when no designated preceptor is available. The RN contributes to quality improvement and professional development by identifying potential policy revisions based on evidence-based research, applying the Synergy Model in practice, collecting and analyzing care data, participating in improvement activities, and maintaining required points and contact hours through the clinical lattice PLAN system. The position requires a qualifying nursing education and recent nursing experience or completion of a re-entry nursing program, a valid unencumbered Georgia RN license, and BLS certification. ACLS and other certifications may be required by department or specialty. An active compact/multistate license is required within 60 days of hire for employees performing virtual care that may involve multistate practice.
